Ep 01 From Scattered Interests to Clear Business Direction

Have you ever felt torn between too many passions — like you could start twelve different businesses, but can’t seem to commit to just one?

I get it. I’ve been there.

For years, I chased idea after idea, trying to “pick a niche” that never truly fit. Everyone told me to just pick one thing and stick with it, but that advice never worked for me.

If you’re anything like me — a multi-passionate, creative soul — you’ve probably wrestled with that same advice too.

In today’s episode of The Multipassionate Soul Podcast, I’m sharing the framework that finally gave me clarity after years of career hopping and start-ups — and how you can use it to find your own clear, fulfilling direction.

🍰 Clarity Is Like Baking a Cake

Choosing your business path is a lot like baking a cake — the right ingredients, in the right measure, lead to a satisfying outcome.

Too often, we mix together passions, ideas, and skills without realizing something important is missing. The result? A “career cake” that falls flat — time, money, and energy spent, but no fulfillment.

But when you discover your unique ingredients of identity, your business becomes rich, flavorful, and deeply rewarding.

That’s where my framework — the Lean Identity Canvas — comes in.

🪞 The Identity Inventory: A Framework for Clarity

After years of experimentation, I created a process called the Identity Inventory to help people find alignment between who they are and what they do.

Instead of forcing yourself into a single box, this framework helps you explore the deeper ingredients of identity — your values, aptitudes, strengths, experiences, and interests — to uncover the business path that fits you.

As a therapist and creative entrepreneur, I discovered that when your work reflects your authentic identity, it not only feels more natural but also sustains your energy long term.

🌟 Therapist’s Take: Why Aptitudes Matter

Here’s what most business advice misses — passion alone isn’t enough.

Your aptitudes (natural abilities) are the secret ingredient. When you use your innate gifts, work feels easier, more energizing, and more meaningful.

“When you align your work with the gifts you’ve been entrusted with, you’re not just honoring yourself—you’re multiplying what you’ve been given.”

Research backs this up: when your skills and interests align with your work, your satisfaction and success skyrocket. You feel capable, confident, and creatively alive.

💡 Reflection Prompts

Want to start identifying your own aptitudes? Try this:

  • What are the top three compliments you consistently receive?
  • What activities make you feel energized instead of drained?
  • Where do others naturally seek your help or advice?

Those clues reveal your natural flow — the foundation for a business that feels both aligned and sustainable.

✨ Bringing It All Together

Think of your business like a recipe:

  • Aptitudes are the flour — your structure and strength

  • Values are the sugar — your purpose and motivation

  • Experiences are the spices — your personal flavor

When you combine these intentionally, you create something deeply satisfying — a business that works with you, not against you.
